    1. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Remove a book from its page, move a whole shelf at once

      New
      • Remove a book from your collection straight from its page: each “My copy” block now has a “…” next to the pencil, with “Remove from my collection” and, for a copy that came from a scan, “This isn’t a book”. Your readings and your lists keep the book. A loaned book must come back first.
      • “Move everything to…” from a bookcase’s or a shelf’s “…”: pick the destination on the bookcase drawing or in a list, confirm the count, and every book moves in one go. Putting a copy away and “Change shelf” in To review use the same picker.
      • The “My readings” calendar shows the covers of the books you finished each day, instead of dots.
    2. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Editing shelves always opens the shape editor

      Fix
      • On a bookcase’s page, “Edit shelves” — from a shelf’s “…” or the page menu — opened an older list screen, not the shape editor. Both now open the shape editor, with that shelf’s compartment already selected, under a single entry: “Edit shape and shelves”.
    3. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Hidden bookcases show up like the others

      Fix
      • In Library › Bookcases, “Show hidden” used to list hidden bookcases in a different, dimmed layout. They now appear exactly like the visible ones — grid or list, same order — after a small “Hidden” divider, with their “Show” eye. On the web, the filter and trash buttons of hidden bookcases work again.
    4. OTA + WebiOS & Web

      Spanish speaks with one voice

      Fix
      • In Spanish, the app used four words for a bookcase and three for its shelves. From now on: “estantería” is the bookcase, “estante” one of its shelves, “colección” your books as a whole (“Mi colección”, tab “Colección”), “habitación” the room — in 350 sentences. Nothing changes in French or English; the same words are now kept in one place per language, so they stay consistent.
    5. OTA + WebiOS & Web

One shelf at a time, and your bookcase’s real measurements

      New
      • On a bookcase’s page, opening a shelf now closes the one that was open, so only one is lit in the drawing.
      • In “About”, a Dimensions line (width × height × depth) you can edit by hand; measured sizes replace the estimate and the drawing takes the real proportions at once.
    6. OTA + WebiOS & Web

My readings, on a calendar and a timeline

      New
      • “My readings” now has three views — List, Calendar, Timeline — and remembers your choice. The calendar puts a dot per book finished each day, a ring on the day you started one, and opens the day’s books; the timeline runs newest first, month by month, with dates and reading time, and year chips to jump back. A book marked read without a date sits on the day it was marked, flagged “approximate”.
    7. OTA · WebiOS & Web

Adding a bookcase, step by step

      New
      • The first time you photograph a bookcase, a few tips show how to get every spine read: one row of books per shelf, nothing in front of the spines, good light, the whole bookcase in frame. The “?” on the camera brings them back.
      • Once the photo is sent, stay and watch the books appear, or carry on and get notified when the scan is done.
      • When the scan is done, check the shape of your new bookcase: keep it, skip, or edit it.
      • When spines were hard to read, the app tells you why — blurry, too far, hidden by an object on shelf 2 — and lets you retake the photo.
    8. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Your bookcase drawn as it really is

      New
      • Open a shelf in the list and its compartment lights up in the drawing — and tapping a compartment in the full-screen view opens that shelf.
      Fix
      • The drawing on a bookcase’s page sized the bookcase from its books: a tall bookcase with two columns came out wide, with each level’s compartments merged into one long shelf. It now follows the shape you validated — real proportions, each compartment its own width, narrow ones narrow, empty ones empty.
    9. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Tidy a bookcase with one new photo

      New
      • On a bookcase’s page, “…” › “Re-shelve with a photo” (also offered after saving its shape): one wide photo, and every book you already own moves to the shelf where it now stands. A book kept on another bookcase is asked about; a book not seen stays put; a new one goes to “To confirm”. The summary counts moved, already right, new and unseen.
    10. OTA + WebiOS & Web

The same words everywhere: room, bookcase, shelf, collection

      Fix
      • Fifty-one sentences across the app still mixed the words up — “space” for a room, “shelf” for a whole bookcase or for your collection, “on the shelf” for books at home. They now follow the glossary in French, Spanish and English: a room, a bookcase, one of its shelves, your collection.
    11. BackendServers

An outage last night, and what we changed

      Fix
      • Tomeling was unavailable from about 02:25 to 08:05 (Paris time) on 4 October. A one-off job building the search “Did you mean…” dictionary from the whole book reference set overloaded the database. Nothing was lost; the night’s daily notifications did not go out and will resume tonight.
      • That dictionary is now built in small, bounded steps during the night, with the previous one kept until the new one is complete, so this cannot happen again. Until the first build finishes, suggestions come from your own shelves only.
    1. Build 43iOS

Build 43: a fresher shell for everything shipped this week

      New
      • The app’s native parts are updated (camera, photos, updates), and the system texts — camera, photo library and contacts permissions, Siri, the Live Activity of a scan, the App Clip — now use the same words as the app: a bookcase, your collection, names that never leave your phone.
      Fix
      • Tapping “Save Image” on the shared year-in-review card could close the app: the permission it needs was missing. Scans of ISBN and friend QR codes are steadier too.
    2. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Genres everywhere, the 3D view retired, a photo in About

      New
      • Editing a book or entering one by hand now uses the genre picker — family, then sub-genre — instead of a free “category” field. The genre is saved as yours on editions you created; a shared catalogue edition keeps its own.
      • A bookcase’s “About” shows its wide photo and when it was added and last changed.
      • The stats page counts genres instead of raw categories, and the reading portrait speaks in genres too.
      Fix
      • The deprecated 3D view of bookcases has been removed; the 2D drawing and the shape editor stay.
    3. OTA + WebiOS & Web

“Did you mean…” suggestions worth reading

      Fix
      • When a search finds nothing, suggestions now come first from your own shelves, then from a lexicon of authors and titles published at least five times — weighted by how known they are, with a cap on the number of typos tolerated. A correctly spelled name no longer gets “corrections”, and there are at most three.
      Performance
      • Suggestions answer in well under a second instead of one to two seconds.
    4. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Clubs: admins, and members you can manage

      New
      • A club now has an owner, admins and members. From the members button, the owner and admins open a “…” on each member: make admin, back to member, remove from the club; the owner can also hand the club over (they stay as admin). Admins get the club actions too — add a book or a meeting, settings, WhatsApp group. Only the owner can delete the club or transfer it.
      Security
      • Two gaps were closed: a member could have promoted themselves to owner, and anyone could have joined a public club as its owner. Roles can no longer be written by the app directly.
    5. OTAiOS

Profile photos really work now — and shelf photos get lighter

      Fix
      • The two earlier fixes were not enough: the app read every picked photo through a function the phone refuses, so each one was judged unreadable before anything was sent. Reproduced and fixed on a device: choosing a photo now shows it in your profile right away. Taking one with the camera goes through the same path.
      • The same flaw sent shelf photos to the scan at full size, without the on-phone reduction and HEIC conversion. They are reduced again before upload — faster scans, less data. Club cover photos are fixed the same way.
    6. OTAiOS

Loan reminders use the name from your contacts

      Fix
      • “Due soon” and “overdue” reminders showed the other person’s pseudo only. On iPhone they now show the name you have for them in your contacts, like every other notification; existing unread reminders were updated without ringing again. The text of push notifications themselves still shows the pseudo — that needs the next app build.
    7. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Fewer books stuck in “Other fiction”

      New
      • When catalogues only say “fiction” about a book, opening its page now asks once for its genre — thriller, romance, science fiction… — within the closed list, under the daily budget already used for summaries. The page shows “Genre: looking…” for a moment and never fails because of it; a genre you or a catalogue set is never overwritten.
    8. WebWeb

The web catches up: where a book goes, and a few fixes

      New
      • Adding a book from a search result now asks “Whose is it, and where?” first — household or you, then room › bookcase › shelf, “Unshelved” by default — as on iPhone. If one of your households already has a copy, you are taken to it.
      • A bookcase’s page remembers which sections you opened or closed, per bookcase, on this browser.
      Fix
      • In Settings, the household’s library visibility applied to your main household whichever one was shown; it now applies to the household on screen, with the membership check.
      • A club with no upcoming meeting no longer shows an old “I’ll be there”; its members list reads “—” for everyone.
    9. WebWeb

“Accept all” says where the books really go

      Fix
      • On the web, “Accept all” in To review said the books would go to the photographed shelf, while they went to the owner and shelf chosen in the page’s selectors. The confirmation now names that choice — room › bookcase › shelf — and says “the photographed shelf” only when none is chosen. The same goes for the multi-select line.
      • The legal texts now use the same words as the app: your books as a whole are your “collection”; a “bookcase” is the piece of furniture.
    10. WebWeb

On the web too, a photo gives your bookcase its shape

      New
      • When you create a bookcase with a wide photo in the import assistant, its shape is now read from the photo, as on iPhone: pick the bookcase if several are found, or draw the zone, check the shelves in the editor, then “Scan the books” sends the same photo to the scan so each book lands on its shelf. Without a photo, the bookcase gets a regular shape you can refine later.
    1. OTAiOS

Your friends, under the names from your contacts

      Fix
      • People who were already your friends kept showing their pseudo even when they are in your contacts: the matching that reads your address book was built to find new people and left friends out on purpose. A second matching, limited to your own circle, now names them — same digests, same privacy: your contacts’ names never leave your phone, and a friend who turned being findable off stays unnamed.
    2. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Scanned books find a shelf, and close-ups guide you

      New
      • When a photo shows a single shelf and you had not said which one, the scan summary asks “Which shelf?” once and shelves every book of the photo. “Later” keeps them in To review, under one line, until you choose.
      • After a photo taken too far away, the guided close-ups now open straight away, with the zones to shoot drawn on your photo; each close-up knows its shelf. You can still abandon them, after a confirmation that says how many books would be left out.
      • To review no longer shows a card per unreadable spine: one line, “N books to photograph closer”, opens the close-ups.
      Fix
      • A bookcase created by hand had no shape, so every scanned book was left unshelved. Every bookcase now has a shape (regular shelves until you refine it); when the rows of a photo don’t match it one for one, each book is placed by its height and tagged “Shelf guessed” in To review, to confirm or move, one by one or all at once.
    3. OTA + WebiOS & Web

      A bookcase page that folds

      New
      • A bookcase’s page now opens on a compact card — name, room, shelves and books, with a small drawing of the bookcase; tap it to see it full screen with the spines.
      • Below, three sections you can fold: “Shelves” (open), one row per shelf with its covers; “Books” and “About” (closed). What you open stays open next time, on iPhone.
      • Every action lives in the “…” next to the title: edit, shape, edit shelves, photograph, mark all as read, add all to a list, delete. No more numbered headings or buttons repeated down the page.
    4. OTAiOS

The names from your contacts stay once you are friends

      Fix
      • On iPhone, the name you have for someone in your contacts was forgotten as soon as they became your friend, and only ever learned on the “Add a friend” screen. It is now learned when you open My circle, Friends or a member’s page too — if you have already allowed access to your contacts; the app never asks for it there — and it is kept once you are friends.
    5. OTA + WebiOS & Web

In a club, people are under one button

      Fix
      • On a club page, the members button now holds everything about people: the members and their replies, “Add to my circle”, inviting friends, sharing the club link (public clubs), and leaving the club. The “…” keeps only the rest — add a book, a meeting or a challenge, WhatsApp group, settings, report, delete — with nothing listed twice.
    6. OTAiOS

      Your profile photo uploads again

      Fix
      • On iPhone, choosing or taking a profile photo ended with “The photo could not be uploaded”, whatever the photo. The app was handing the server a file handle instead of the picture itself; it now sends the picture.
    7. OTA + WebiOS & Web

A club page in its own colour, with less clutter

      New
      • The club page opens on one card in the club’s colour, with its emoji and three buttons: members (and “Add to my circle” for those who aren’t friends yet), the WhatsApp group, and a “…” holding everything else — add a book, a meeting or a challenge, settings, invite, share, report, leave, delete.
      • Each section sits on its own paper — notebook lines for the discussion, a shelf for the books, an agenda for meetings, a grid for challenges — with a “+” next to the title to add to it. The duplicate buttons are gone.
      • Each meeting has a “…”: share, reply, who’s coming, directions, edit, delete. Each challenge is one line with a ring showing your own progress, and a challenge created from a club can be reserved to its members.
      • Creating a club shows every field at once: name, emoji, colour, description, visibility, usual place (with address suggestions) and cover photo — any photo works, no file-type or size rules.
      Fix
      • On iPhone, a meeting created after My circle had been opened did not appear on the club card until the app was restarted. The card now refreshes after every change to a club, and when you come back to the tab.
    8. OTA + WebiOS & Web

One way to add a bookcase, not two

      Fix
      • The Add menu offered both “Bookcase” and “Photograph a bookcase”, which opened the same thing. Only “Photograph a bookcase” remains: it creates a new bookcase, with or without a photo, and old links to the other entry land there.
    9. OTAiOS

Every book wears its own cover again

      Fix
      • In My circle — a friend’s books, loans, clubs, the member page — several books could show the same cover, taken from another book. The app was filing covers from the same source under one name; each is now kept apart. If a book has no cover, its tile shows its title and author on a plain background, as before.
    10. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Household settings you can actually read

      Fix
      • In “Household settings”, the options for lending and library visibility overflowed their control and their names were cut off. Each option is now its own line, with its full name and a check mark on the chosen one, and each setting has a one-line explanation. Choosing an option saves it straight away.
    11. OTA + WebiOS & Web

My circle: your friends’ faces, their books, and your bookstores

      New
      • On a “My circle is reading” card, each part opens its own page: the reader, the book (title or cover) and the author. On iPhone, a friend found in your contacts shows under the name you gave them, with their pseudo beside it.
      • Your friends’ faces now sit at the top of My circle, above the counts; tap one to open their page.
      • On a friend’s page, “Books” and “In common” open the list of their books when their household lets friends browse its library — with the next ones loading as you scroll.
      • A new “My bookstores” section, right after your friends, shows your favourite bookstores, with a “+” to find more.
      • The “…” on the top card of My circle is gone: everything it held is reachable from the page itself.
    12. OTA + WebiOS & Web

A status and a list at import, and a whole bookcase in one go

      New
      • When you photograph a bookcase or import a file, you can now say what these books are to you — “To read”, “Read” or “Abandoned” — and add them all to a list, new or existing. The default changes nothing. Books you confirm later in To review follow the same choice, and a book you had already marked as read is never set back.
      • When your import file already says the status of each book, that status is kept and the choice is not offered.
      • In a bookcase’s “…” menu: “Mark all as read”, “Mark all as…” and “Add all to a list”. You see the number of books before confirming, then how many were updated and how many already were.
    13. OTA + WebiOS & Web

My households: one card each, the rest one tap away

      New
      • The households page is now a simple list: one card per household, with a “…” that opens what you need — set as main, invite, members, settings, leave, delete — each in its own window. No more numbered sections, and nothing shown twice.
      • A “+” in the header opens the window to create a household or join one with an invitation link, instead of a form always on the page.
      Fix
      • On the web, inviting someone, renaming, changing the lending rule or a member’s role always applied to your main household, whichever one you had selected. Each action now applies to the household of the card you opened.
    14. OTAiOS

My circle is reachable again after opening My loans

      Fix
      • Opening “My loans” from the profile menu before ever visiting My circle left that tab stuck on the loans page, with no way back to the circle. The page now opens on top of the circle: the header reads “My circle › My loans”, and its back link, the swipe and the tab itself all return to the circle.
      • The same went for any page opened into a tab not yet visited — a list or a bookcase into the Library, a club or a friend’s page into My circle, the page a notification opens. All fixed the same way.
    15. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Genres that mean something: thriller, romance, essays…

      New
      • Your books are now sorted into seven families — Fiction, Comics & manga, Children’s books, Poetry & drama, Non-fiction, Art & illustrated books, Lifestyle — and some sixty genres inside them: crime and thriller, romance, science fiction, biographies, photography, cooking…
      • Your year in review, your reading portrait and the dashboard show your books by family, with the genres inside each one.
      • In the Library, “Sort and filter” has a Genre section: pick a family, or open it and pick a genre. On a book’s page, the genre is a link to every book of yours in it. Searching “thriller” finds your thrillers.
      • A book’s genre comes from what catalogues already say about it; when they only say “fiction”, it is listed under “Other fiction” until more is known.
      Fix
      • Category names no longer appear untranslated or in a mix of languages (“American literature”, “Family”…): every genre has its name in English, French and Spanish.
    16. OTA + WebiOS & Web

To review: settle a whole filter at once, or pick several

      New
      • Each filter of To review now has its own bulk buttons: “Shelve all” or “Leave all” under “Already shelved elsewhere”, “Accept all” or “Dismiss all” under “To confirm”, “Dismiss all” under “Unrecognised” — next to the existing “Merge all” and “Keep all” for duplicates. Each asks for confirmation, shows its progress and ends with a summary.
      • A book that turns out to be a possible duplicate, or already shelved elsewhere, is never forced: its card stays in the list with its question.
      • Select several cards — the select button at the end of the filters, or a long press on a card on iPhone — then accept or dismiss them together. Selected cards are tinted and ticked.
    17. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Households are easier to spot in the Library menu

      Fix
      • In the Library’s “…” menu, each household now has a small house in front of its name, so you can tell at a glance that these lines switch household.
    18. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Invite a friend into your household, and see the names you know

      New
      • Invite a friend into a household in two taps: from their page, “…” then “Add to a household”, or from your households page, “Invite” then “From my circle”. No e-mail address needed — they get a notification and join from the app.
      • The households page is tidier: one card for the members, one for the invitations you sent, one for the settings, with a single “Invite” button and the rarer actions behind “…”.
      • On iPhone, a friend found through your contacts now appears under the name you gave them in your address book — in notifications, your circle, loans and their page — with their pseudo underneath. That name stays on your phone, is never sent to us, and is erased when you sign out.
    19. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Each book on its own shelf

      Fix
      • A photo showing several shelves used to put every book on one single shelf of the bookcase. The rows of the photo are now matched to the shelves, top to bottom, and each book goes where it was photographed.
      • “The whole bookcase” is now the default when you photograph a bookcase; choosing one shelf is only for a photo that shows a single shelf, and it no longer sticks to the next photos.
      • When Tomeling cannot tell which shelf a book is on, it leaves it unshelved for you to check instead of guessing, and the scan summary says how many shelves the books were spread over.
    20. OTA + WebiOS & Web

      Notifications, without the wasted space

      New
      • The notifications page now reads like To review: filters on one line right under the header, compact cards, and the next ones loading as you scroll.
      • New filters by kind — Social, Loans, Reading, Library, News — next to “All” and “Unread”, each showing how many are unread. “Mark all as read” is an icon at the end of the line.
      • A friend request or a household invitation is answered right on its card with ✓ and ✕, and takes no more room than any other notification.
    21. OTA + WebiOS & Web

A profile that saves, and a name of your own

      New
      • Choosing your pseudo is now part of joining: it is the name your friends see. Readers who were given an automatic one are asked once to choose theirs, with suggestions if it is taken.
      Fix
      • On iPhone, most photos were refused as a profile picture with a message about the file format. Any photo from your library or camera now works: it is resized on your phone before it is sent.
      • Saving your profile could fail without saying why when the pseudo contained a capital letter, a space or a dash. The pseudo is now tidied for you, a clear message says what is allowed, and your other details are saved even if the photo could not be.
      • “Generated avatar” gave the same picture every time; each tap now draws a different one, and the one you see is the one that is kept.
      • A new profile picture now shows everywhere straight away, instead of the previous one lingering in the header.
    22. OTA + WebiOS & Web

      Clearer words: bookcase, shelf, collection

      Fix
      • The scan instructions now say what really happens: photograph your whole bookcase, and if some spines can’t be read, Tomeling asks for a few close-ups.
      • In French, the piece of furniture is now called « bibliothèque » and one level of it « étagère » — the two were mixed up. Your books as a whole become « Ma collection », and the tab reads « Collection ».
      • English and Spanish follow where “shelf” was used for the whole bookcase.
    23. OTAiOS

Join a household from the app

      Fix
      • An invitation to join a household could only be accepted from the link in its e-mail: the notification opened a page with nowhere to answer. The notification now has “Join” and “Decline” on it, and “My households” opens on the invitations you have received.
      • After you join, the app offers to switch to that household straight away.
    24. OTAiOS

A friend request that reaches your phone

      Fix
      • A friend request only reached your lock screen if you had turned notifications on, and most readers were never asked. The app now offers them once, on Home, with a short explanation first; “Not now” waits a week before asking again.
      • If notifications were refused in your iPhone’s settings, the notifications inbox now says so and takes you to the right setting.
      • Home speaks more warmly: “Reading alone is great. Sharing what you read is even better.”, and in French the nearby section is now « À un coup de vélo ».
    25. OTAiOS

      Your bookcase, full screen

      New
      • On a bookcase’s page, the expand button now opens the bookcase over the whole screen, with room to zoom and move around. It keeps the view and the zoom you had.
      • Nothing sits under the camera or in the corners, and you leave whenever you like: the “Minimize” button at the top right, or a swipe down.
    26. Build 41iOS

Build 41: a light that stays on, and your import in the app

      New
      • Import your Babelio or Goodreads library without leaving the app: pick the exported file on your iPhone, check the summary, and follow the import to its report. “Finish on the web” stays available.
      • This build also carries everything delivered over the air since build 40: the bookcase shape and its editor, the new To review list, the book page opened from Search, and friends made simple.
      Fix
      • The scanner’s light now stays on while you scan barcodes, and switches off when you close the scanner or leave the app. It used to come on and go straight off, or stop the scanner from reading.
    27. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Your bookcase, drawn as it really is

      New
      • When you add a bookcase, Tomeling reads its photo before scanning the books and draws its shape over it: the boards, the uprights, the shelves, and the spaces that hold no books.
      • If the photo shows several bookcases, you pick the one you mean — or draw a zone — and only that part is scanned. Each book then lands on the shelf it was photographed on.
      • A shape editor lets you correct it, then or later from the bookcase’s page: add, move or remove a horizontal or vertical separator, and mark a space as empty — a TV niche, doors, drawers. Books never get lost: a merged shelf keeps them, and a shelf you remove asks where they go.
      • Your existing bookcases were converted to the new shape, with every book where it was.
      • The 3D view of a bookcase is retired; the flat drawing is now the one view, on iPhone and on the web.
    28. OTA + WebiOS & Web

To review, easier on the eye

      New
      • Each card now sits on the photo of the shelf it came from, softly veiled so the text stays readable, with the proposed book’s cover on the left.
      • The list loads the next books as you scroll; the “Show more” button is gone.
      Fix
      • The filters start right under the header, on a single line with their counts, and stay in place while the list scrolls.
    29. OTA + WebiOS & Web

From a search result straight to the book

      New
      • Opening a book from Search shows its cover, title and author at once; the summary and the other details fill in as they arrive, and are kept so the next reader sees them immediately.
      • That page has a single “Add to my library” button; whose it is and where it goes are asked only when you tap it.
      • Books from the online catalogues, a friend’s book and a community book all open the book’s page and stay inside Search.
      • Headers now name what you are looking at — “Search › the book’s title”, “My circle › the club’s name” — instead of only its kind.
      Fix
      • On iPhone, a book opened from the online catalogues could not be left with the back gesture; it now sits in Search like any other page.
      • My circle no longer has a “Grow my circle” block: “Add a friend” at the top is the one way in, and waiting requests are shown there.
    30. OTA + WebiOS & Web

All your duplicates, settled in one go

      New
      • Under the “Duplicates” filter of To review, two buttons handle the whole list: “Merge all” treats every pair as the same book — one copy is kept, and its labels, loans, reading and notes follow — and “Keep all” keeps every copy, for the books you really own more than once.
      • Each asks for confirmation first, shows its progress, and ends with a count. A pair with two loans in progress is left for you to settle by hand.
    1. WebWeb

The web says where you are, once

      New
      • Every page of the web app now opens on the same first line as the iPhone app: the section, then the page — “My circle › Add a friend”, “Library › Bookcase” — and the section takes you back to its home.
      Fix
      • Pages no longer repeat their name underneath: Notifications, Settings, Help, My notebook, My portrait, the lists, loans, clubs, challenges and the Add pages open straight on their content.
    2. OTA + WebiOS & Web

A page says its name once

      New
      • A book’s page now says “Looking for a summary…” while one is being found, then shows it as soon as it arrives.
      Fix
      • On iPhone, a page’s name appears once, on the first line. Notifications no longer repeats “Inbox · Notifications” underneath, and Settings, Help, My notebook, My portrait, My circle, the reading pile and the wish list lose the label that said the same thing again.
      • Pages about one thing — a book, an author, a club, a bookcase, a list, an event — show what kind of page it is in the header and keep the name itself in the page.
      • “Edit my details” opens straight on your details, on iPhone and on the web.
    3. OTA + WebiOS & Web

To review: one list, two taps

      New
      • Everything waiting for you sits in one list, with a filter at the top: All, Duplicates, To confirm, Already shelved elsewhere, Not recognised — each with its count. The separate Duplicates section is gone.
      • Each item is a single card: the spine, the proposed book, the shelf it was photographed on, and why it needs you. Two buttons, ✓ and ✗, settle it without opening anything; tap the card to see the detail and zoom in.
      • A “Duplicate” tag says when a book is already in your library: ✓ keeps this copy as an extra one, ✗ says it is the same book. Duplicate groups from your library offer “Merge” or “Keep both”.
      • Every quick decision can be undone for a few seconds.
    4. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Copy from a book’s page, several copies side by side, and contacts that show up

      New
      • On a book’s page, tap the ISBN, the publisher, the year or the page count to copy it; press and hold the summary, a quote or a review to select and copy the text.
      • When your household owns several copies of the same book, its page shows one block per copy — each with its own owner, place, loan and actions.
      • Every member now has a handle from the moment the account exists, chosen for you and changeable whenever you like; “Edit my details” offers to pick your own.
      Fix
      • Members who had never chosen a handle could not be found from your contacts, by search, or through their invitation link. They can now.
      • On iPhone, the keyboard no longer covers the search field on “Add a friend”: the field and the first results stay visible while you type.
    5. ServiceiOS & Web

      Summaries that actually arrive

      Fix
      • Many books — most French editions in particular — never got a summary. Opening a book’s page now looks for one in the public catalogues first, then writes one from cited sources if none exists, in the language of your edition.
      • A summary that had been found was sometimes discarded and the book left without one for a month; those books are retried the next time you open them.
    6. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Add a book: one screen, and a light that no longer blinds the scanner

      New
      • Once the book is found, a single screen does the rest: the book at the top, whose it is, and where it goes — room, bookcase and shelf, with your last place already selected, “Not on a shelf”, and a new bookcase created on the spot. One button adds it.
      • A book can now be given to any member of the household right from that screen.
      • On the web, you choose the shelf on the book’s confirmation sheet instead of in a second dialog afterwards.
      Fix
      • On iPhone, turning the light on no longer stops the scanner from reading barcodes. If the code shines under the light, the screen suggests moving the book back a little.
    7. OTAiOS

Every page says where it sits

      New
      • The “tab › page” header now appears on every page you open from a tab — settings, news, a bookcase, a room, a list, a challenge, a club, an event — with the name of what you are looking at.
      • Pages no longer repeat their own name under the header: lists of loans, challenges, clubs and friends open straight on their counts, and forms open straight on their first field, with the header as the way back.
    8. OTA + WebiOS & Web
      New
      • “Reset my invitation link” now lives in Settings, under “Findable by my contacts”, on iPhone and on the web: confirm once and the old link stops working.
      • On iPhone, after you add a friend or accept a request, the app offers to turn notifications on so you hear back when they answer.
    9. OTAiOS

Notifications you can finally turn on

      Fix
      • Most readers were never offered notifications on their iPhone, so friend requests, loans and finished scans arrived silently. “Your preferences” now has a “Receive notifications” switch, and the app offers them at the moments they matter: after a friend request, a loan, or a shelf photo.
      • The notifications inbox shows a banner to turn them on while your iPhone has not asked yet; saying “Not now” pauses the offer for a week instead of hiding it for good.
      • Settings › Notifications now says plainly whether notifications are active on this iPhone, and the app re-registers your phone each time you come back to it.
    10. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Headers that say where you are

      New
      • On iPhone, the header of a page now reads like a path — “My circle › Add a friend”, “Library › your bookcase” — and tapping the first part takes you back to the tab.
      • Searching for someone by name or e-mail now happens on the “Add a friend” page itself, in its own section; a full e-mail address that matches no member offers “Invite by e-mail”. The separate search page is gone.
      • Each section of “Add a friend” sits in its own card, and your invitation link has a share icon right in its row.
      Fix
      • The “…” button next to the invitation link opened a menu off screen and left the page stuck; it is gone, along with the empty space at the top of the page and the duplicate “Invite other contacts” block.
    11. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Your preferences, asked from the start

      New
      • When you join, a “Your preferences” screen tells you what your friends see of your reading by default, and asks whether your contacts may find you — with a link to every setting if you want to fine-tune.
      • “Let my contacts find me” is now on unless you turn it off: people who already have your email address in their contacts can find your profile. Tomeling never shows your address book to anyone, and never turns the switch back on once you have turned it off.
      • If you already had an account, a notification invites you to confirm your preferences on that same screen. The privacy policy has been updated to say so.
    12. OTA + WebiOS & Web

      Adding a friend, made simple

      New
      • One “Add a friend” screen replaces the old path, with three ways to do it — and the requests waiting for your answer right at the top.
      • Face to face: show your code, your friend scans it with Tomeling, and you are friends straight away. On the web, your code is displayed for a phone to scan.
      • Your invitation link: share it from the screen; whoever opens it sees who is inviting them and adds you in one tap — even if they have to create their account first. You can reset it whenever you like.
      • Your contacts on Tomeling: only the people in your address book who are members and agreed to be found, each with an “Add” button. A single tap makes you findable too.
      Security
      • Friendships are better protected: a friend request can only be accepted by the person who received it, and a block can only be lifted by the person who set it.
    1. OTA + WebiOS & Web

A shelf photo puts your books in their place

      New
      • When a shelf photo recognises a book you already own but had not shelved, it is placed on the photographed shelf — no second copy.
      • If the book is already on another shelf, the scan asks “Update its place?” before moving anything; if it looks like a second copy of a book you own, it asks “A second copy?” before adding one.
      • Books waiting for your answer are counted on the scan screen and at the top of To review, so nothing is added behind your back.
      Fix
      • Confirming a scanned book that already had an unverified copy now reuses that copy instead of creating a second one.
    2. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Bring your Babelio library with you

      New
      • When you join, Tomeling asks whether your books already live on Babelio or Goodreads, and walks you through the export in four short steps — sign in, export, pick the file, we tell you when it is done. Skip it with “Later” and come back from Settings › Your library.
      • Babelio’s export file is read as is: reading statuses, ratings, entry dates and accented names all come through. Your “pense-bêtes” stay out unless you tick them in.
      • On iPhone, the file step hands you over to the web page in one tap (open it on this iPhone, or send yourself the link); a file picker inside the app comes with the next App Store update.
    3. OTA + WebiOS & Web

My circle is about the others

      New
      • A “+” at the top right of “01 My clubs” opens the book club creation page.
      Fix
      • The activity column of My circle no longer shows your own cards — only what your friends and clubs are up to. Your own activity stays in My notebook.
    4. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Delete a shelf, keep the books

      New
      • Delete a shelf or a whole bookcase: on iPhone, swipe a row to the left like a mail, or use the “…” menu on a card; on the web, the bin at the end of the row. You confirm first, and the books are never deleted.
      • When you delete, you choose where the books go: leave them unshelved, or move them to another shelf of the household, picked from a room › bookcase › shelf list.
      • A new “Not on a shelf” filter in Library › Books, with its count, finds every book still waiting for a place.
    5. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Your library finds its own duplicates

      New
      • Every night, Tomeling looks for duplicate copies in your household’s library — same edition, same ISBN, or same title and author — and lets you know in your notifications when it finds some.
      • In To review, a new Duplicates section shows the copies side by side. Keep one and merge: labels, loans, reading progress, notes, sessions and lists all move to the copy you keep, nothing is lost. Or dismiss the pair if the copies are meant to be there.
      • Launch a search yourself whenever you like: on iPhone from Settings › Your library, on the web from My households in your account.
      Fix
      • Shelf photos taken in HEIC (the iPhone’s default format, and photos picked from the library) are now read by the scan instead of failing. If a photo really cannot be read, the scan says so straight away and tells you what to do.
    6. OTA + WebiOS & Web

Friends by e-mail, and the Library back on its feet

      New
      • Add a friend by e-mail: a Tomeling member receives a friend request, anyone else receives an invitation to join. On iPhone, it works from your contacts and from the people finder; on the web, from the invite form.
      Fix
      • On iPhone, the Library tab opens on your library again; it no longer gets stuck on “Edit the bookcase”, even after restarting the app.
    7. ServiceServers

Safer loans and invitations, better bookshop search

      New
      • Every kind of notification can now reach your phone as a push, following the categories you chose.
      Fix
      • Household invitations sent from the iPhone app and from the web work again.
      • Bookshop search finds a town’s bookshops, and understands postcodes and town names typed without accents; the add page says which town it is searching around.
      • A bookshop’s address shows its postcode and town, and its page no longer suggests it knows the shop’s stock.
      Security
      • A flaw that allowed a loan to be modified through a direct call to our servers has been closed: each side of a loan can now change only what is theirs to change.
      • Invitation links are now built only for Tomeling’s own addresses.
      • A third-party software component with a published vulnerability was updated.
    8. WebWeb

Borrowing, a new Add menu and your notebook

      New
      • “Borrow” arrives on the web: ask a friend for a book from a search result or a book’s menu, and find books you own marked as yours, with “Lend” at hand.
      • “My loans” in the profile menu takes you straight to your loans.
      • Every kind of addition opens its own page under Add, in one frame with a ✕ back to the menu — and the menu reads in four groups.
      • Add a bookshop that is not in Tomeling yet from the map results: “Keep” creates its page and opens it.
      • Events get a proper date and place when you add them, the same way as on iPhone.
      • My notebook opens on your reading time, ends with your journal in an endless scroll, and each journal line has a “…” to like, comment, delete or share it. My portrait ends on your badges.
      • Your reader status is now yearly and updates itself, with “?” to explain the points, the date you became a member, and badges you can earn more than once — including a founder badge for beta members.
      • Choose which kinds of notification reach you as a web push, delivered in your own time zone. Gentle reading reminders now appear in your notifications, and respect your reminder setting.
      • Literary news and On air can be sorted and filtered, as on iPhone.
      • Change the book in your bookmark from its “···” menu.
      • On a phone, “Take a photo” sets your profile picture with the camera.
      • The bookcase overview lists your bookcases like Library rows, and a room opens like a bookcase page.
      • Library book rows carry the same “…” and “›” as search results, and the magnifier opens Search’s results.
      Fix
      • A loan request can only be answered by the person who was asked, never by the one who asked.
      • Home no longer shows the “Right now” band, so what your circle is reading comes first.
      • On a news article, the date line sits under the headline.
    9. OTAiOS

      Fixes delivered over the air

      Fix
      • The ✕ on every Add screen sits at the top right and takes you back to the Add menu — the scanner’s too.
      • “Enter an ISBN” has a single “Search” button, pinned at the bottom of the screen.
      • Tapping an author’s name on a book page opens the author.
      • The book page’s other panels open over the whole screen instead of half of it.
      • Tapping a search suggestion closes the keyboard before it opens the result.
      • The guided tour also greets readers who joined before it existed; on iPad it points at the right place, and closing the side panel mid-tour ends it cleanly.
      • On a news article, the date line sits under the headline.
      • The bookcase carousel shows one bookcase per card, between ‹ and ›, with nothing written underneath; a room heading shows only the room’s name.
      • The button on the right of each tab’s header sits against the edge, where your thumb expects it.
    10. Build 37 · 38iOS

Add anything, borrow a book, find your way

      New
      • A shared book link can now open in the Tomeling App Clip on iPhone, without installing the app.
      • The Add menu is rebuilt: every row — a book, a shelf, an ISBN, a list, a room, a bookcase, an author, a bookshop, an event, a club, a friend, a challenge — opens its own page, with one ✕ to get back.
      • One “Add a book” page: the camera, and a single field for an ISBN or a title. Every way of adding a book finds it first, then asks whose it is and where it goes.
      • Adding a shelf opens the camera first: take the photo, then say where the shelf is.
      • Borrow: ask a friend for a book with “Borrow”, from a search result or a book’s menu. Books you own show up as yours in Search, with “Lend” at hand.
      • A guided tour now greets you on Home, Library, Search, the book page, My circle, Notifications, My reading, My portrait, My notebook and the bookcase page — and you can replay it at any time from your account.
      • Your reader status is now yearly and updates itself; “?” explains how points are earned, your profile shows since when you are a member, and some badges can be earned more than once — including a founder badge for beta members.
      • Choose which kinds of notification reach you as a push; tapping one marks it read, the app icon shows how many are waiting, and delivery follows your time zone.
      • The bookcase page now lives inside the tabs: the whole bookcase fits its card, a tap on the wood zooms in, you can switch between the shelf and its covers, and one “Edit” screen covers its details and contents.
      • Take your profile photo with the camera.
      • Change the book in your bookmark from its “⋮” menu; the pinned reading always follows your latest progress.
      • Literary news and On air can be sorted and filtered, the same way as the Library.
      • One list editor to create and edit lists, and “Add to a list” can create a new list on the spot.
      Fix
      • Tapping the tab you are already on takes you back to its first screen, every time.
      • Finishing sign-up no longer starts the old five-stop tour.
    1. Build 32iOS & Web

      Close-ups for big bookcases

      New
      • When the titles on a big bookcase are too small to read from one photo, Tomeling now offers a close-up assistant: it shows you which zones to photograph up close and completes the bookcase from them.
      • A scan with books still waiting for you offers the close-up assistant straight from “To review”, on the web and on iPhone.
      • Tap a spine in the carousel or on a bookcase page and the book comes out of the case.
      • On the web, the Library’s filters and sort stay in place while the list scrolls — and so do the filters of “To review” and Notifications.
      • On the web, Search keeps its field pinned at the top while the rest of the bar scrolls away.
      • On the web, the profile drawer keeps Settings, Help, Discover and sign-out within reach at its foot.
      • On a touch screen, swipe to turn the steps of the Discover tour.
      Fix
      • Every “add a book” button — in Search, Discover, the feed, an empty library or your to-read pile — now opens the same add menu.
      • The notification for a finished import opens your library’s Books tab instead of the add menu.
      • A finished scan’s notification opens “To review” when books are waiting for you there.
      • The shelf preview closes the moment you tap, without a delay.

Households, lending, and a scanner that admits doubt

      New
      • Households: one shared library, several readers, personal reading data kept separate.
      • Two-sided lending — the borrower confirms, and the loan stays in the copy's history.
      • A review list for spines the scanner could not read confidently.
      • Spine segmentation is better on tilted and stacked books.
      • French and Spanish edition matching now queries in the edition's own language.
      Fix
      • Books photographed on the top shelf of a tall bookcase sometimes landed one shelf down.

      3D bookcases you can turn

      New
      • Parametric 3D furniture built from the wide photo, with spines on the right shelves.
      • Drag a spine to another shelf to move the book.
      Fix
      • Covers with a transparent background no longer render as black rectangles.
      Performance
