Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Tomeling. They are short on purpose: if something here is unclear, that is a bug, and you can write to us about it.
The agreement
By creating a Tomeling account or using the service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live, to hold an account.
Accounts and households
Sign-in is an email link, so your email inbox is the key to your account. Keep it secure, and tell us if you think someone else has reached your account.
Every account belongs to a household. A household admin can invite and remove members and can change household settings; members can see the household library. Leaving a household does not delete books you own personally, and removing a member does not delete the household's library.
What you may not do
- Upload photographs of people who have not agreed to it, or content that is illegal where you live.
- Harass other members, or post content in a club or a public comment that is abusive, hateful or deliberately misleading.
- Automate scraping of other members' libraries, or attempt to enumerate share links.
- Interfere with the service: probing, overloading, or circumventing rate limits and access controls.
We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules. Where we do, we tell the account holder why.
Your content stays yours
Your photographs, notes, comments and catalog remain yours. You grant us only the licence we need to run the service: to store your files, process them to build your catalog, and show them to the people you have chosen to show them to.
That licence ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not use your content to advertise, and we do not license it to anyone else.
What the AI produces
Book identification from a photograph is a best effort, not a guarantee. Matches carry a confidence score precisely because some of them are wrong, and you are the one who confirms them. Book metadata comes from public sources and may contain errors we did not introduce.
Free at launch
Tomeling is free at launch, with no volume limits. If we introduce paid plans later, we will announce it on this site and by email before it takes effect, and we will not lock a library you have already built behind a new paywall.
Export stays free. You can take your catalog and your personal reading data out as CSV at any time.
Availability
We aim to keep Tomeling available and we back up your data, but the service is provided as it is, without a warranty of uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, incidents and third-party outages happen.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law — including your statutory consumer rights, which these terms do not reduce.
Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings; deletion removes your personal data and your files as described in the Privacy Policy. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we will tell you why and leave you a window to export your data unless the law prevents it.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory protections of the country in which you reside as a consumer.
We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page always says when, and material changes are announced by email before they take effect.
